Our Story

Deep Roots in Food Safety

We’ve spent our careers in food safety training. That experience shapes everything we’re building.

Where We Come From

Our founders –  Bryan Chapman, Emilee Follett, and Danny Follett –  each spent nearly 15 years at StateFoodSafety, one of the most recognized names in food safety training. They played central roles in building the business from the ground up.

Along the way, they earned respected industry credentials including the Certified Professional in Food Safety (CP-FS) and the Certificate in Food Safety (CC-FS), developed an accredited food manager certification exam, and gained a thorough understanding of what regulators, corporations, and frontline workers actually need from training.

What We Noticed

That experience gave us more than credentials. It gave us a clear view of how the food safety training industry works — where it serves people well, and where there’s room to do better.

Over time, we noticed patterns: pricing had become confusing, platforms weren’t keeping up with modern expectations, and regulatory customers in particular were working with tools that hadn’t evolved alongside their needs.

We believed the industry was ready for a fresh approach — and we felt we had the experience to take it on thoughtfully.

We started Fenix because we believe the food safety training space has room for a company that’s willing to start fresh — with a modern platform, thoughtful courseware, and development practices built for today.

Our goal is straightforward: serve regulatory agencies, corporations, and the people who actually take the training with tools and courses that respect their time and their needs.

We’re early in this journey, but we’re building with intention — and with the kind of experience that helps us get the details right.

Bryan Chapman

Bryan brings deep expertise in the regulatory landscape of food safety. With nearly 20 years spent building relationships with health departments and understanding compliance requirements, he ensures Fenix delivers what regulators actually need — not just what’s easiest to build.

Bryan maintains food safety credentials including: HACCP Certification, Certified Professional-Food Safety (CP-FS), Certified Comprehensive Food Safety (CCFS). 

Bryan lives in Utah with his wife and four children.

Emilee Follett

Emilee combines extensive food safety knowledge with many years of instructional design and building accredited programs and certification exams. She knows what goes into making training that produces results and never loses sight what’s really important.

Emilee has extensive experience with the  ASTM E2659-18 – Standard Practice for Certificate Programs and actively consults organizations helping them achieve and maintain accreditation. 

Emilee maintains her Certified Professional-Food Safety (CP-FS), Certified Comprehensive Food Safety (CCFS) credentials, among others in instructional design and test development.

Danny leads the technical vision at Fenix, he’s focused on providing the infrastructure to meet the needs of regulatory and industry. He also has years of experience working in the finance department of growing restaurant chains, so he understands the demands of the business.

Danny has food safety credentials, including Certified Professional-Food Safety (CP-FS) and Certified Comprehensive Food Safety (CCFS). 

Danny is unique in his ability to mesh systems and strategy, delivering unique solutions that are more efficient and effective than the status quo.
