Most people finish the food handler course in about 75 minutes. Texas TABC certification takes about 3 hours. Both are self-paced, so you can stop and pick up where you left off.

Our Arizona, California, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, New Mexico, Texas, and West Virginia food handler courses are ANAB accredited, and our Utah course is approved by the Utah health department. Rules vary by state and county, so check your state above.
If you serve both food and alcohol in Texas, many employers ask for both. You can get them together for $15.
State law doesn’t require it for every server, but many employers do. Certified staff are one of the conditions for safe harbor under §106.14 of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code.
Food handler certificates are typically valid for 2 to 3 years, depending on your state. TABC certification is valid for 2 years.
A food handler card is for frontline staff; a food manager certification is for supervisors and owners responsible for a whole establishment. Food manager certification is coming soon.
